Top 100 greatest 3D movies

CGSociety and 3D World present a rundown of the Top 100 3D Movies as selected by the CG community. These are based on votes by visitors to CGSociety and exclude films like Blade Runner - although undoubtedly influential - becuase they featured only traditional effects. To qualify for inclusion on our shortlist, a movie needed to meet three criteria: to have a running time of 60 minutes or longer; to have received a full cinematic release;and to include a significant element of 3D animation or VFX work, as opposed to matte painting or compositing.

They've also have a neat time line that show release dates.

Do you know what the first feature film to use computer graphics was, do you really??

Can you guess what the number chosen film was? I was a little surprise just from listening to the influences of some of the CG lover folks I know (maybe they're a little older than they think), but it makes complete sense and is deserving of a number one spot.

Y: The Last Man to Become a Trilogy?

Superherohype.com reports the following:

"In an interview with the USA Today about the last issue of Pia Guerra and Brian K. Vaughan's "Y: The Last Man," the director of the comic's upcoming adaptation, D.J. Caruso (Disturbia, upcoming Eagle Eye), says it might become a trilogy of films:

Caruso says he has had "preliminary discussions" with Shia LaBeouf to play Yorick.

"For me, thematically, the most important thing and the reason I want to do this is … I don't want to say it's the end of the innocence, but it's actually a man-child who has to become a real man now," Caruso says. "I think it's a really simple, beautiful theme, but at the same time, the movie's really pop-culture entertainment."

While the original plan was to squeeze the entire series into one movie, Caruso says the film will cover the first 14 issues of the comics. He adds that this opens the door for a trilogy."

This is great news, Y: The Last Man is the best thing written in pop culture in the last few years, a single movie couldn't encompasses the whole thing...though I'd be happier with a maxi-series on Showtime or HBO, a trilogy makes me feel much better.

Two new find "posts" have arrived in my email that would be excellent blog posts. But yet, he resists posting them. Perhaps he does not know how to log-in...or perhaps he fears it. I must investigate this issue further. Anyways, here's what happens as Adam Eats Tilk this week...

The FUTURE is a mere hop, skip, and a jump away. We have the opportunity to part of the first milestones in a new era. Our time is soon...very soon. Stereoscopic movies shown at over 100 frames per second is coming and quick on it's heels is the same technology for home use. I have seen it. I have seen prototypes in the Emerging Technologies at Siggraph and it is nothing but pure awe.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's Back to Work We Go!
The Pixar team of Ed Catmull and John Lasseter, who will be taking over feature animation production at the Walt Disney studios, is apparently wasting no time attempting to restore energy and morale there. Word spread Tuesday on websites devoted to animation that Catmull and Lasseter plan to bring back to the studio some of the animation talent who were let go or who resigned in the wake of Disney's decision to abandon hand-drawn animation and focus on computer-generated animation instead. The two reportedly have specifically singled out the veteran writer/director/producer team of John Musker and Ron Clements as ranking high on their list of persons they wished to rehire. On Tuesday it was announced that Disney had signed composer Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid) to a multipicture deal and had assigned him to write five songs for the upcoming live-action/hand-drawn animated film Enchanted. On Tuesday, the website o-meon.com ("for grown-up geeks") quoted a Disney animation staffer as saying, "We're just so damn happy all of this is happening. ... We just can't believe that everything we've been trying to tell [Disney management] for years if finally coming true. We finally have a chief executive in Bob Iger who understands what creativity means to the company!"

So far it's not working...

Today in my in-box was this, maybe he fears this strange new technology known as Blogging...he was ever resistant to MySpace and now it is one of his true loves, outside of the Triassic Period.

Why this is here...

Why would I create a blog and name it after one of my best bud's favortie past times,? It's simple really, becuase in essence Adam (not Tilk) likes to send emails everyday with fun facts and pictures, essentially he blogs without blogging, so I'm just making it official...let's see if it works
