TEDxNashville

Just got out of the most recent TEDxNashville TEDxChange session. It wasn't as great as last time, I believe the sponsor was Healthways and it felt heavily like a sales pitch for them sometimes. But, learning about ShadeTreeClinic.org and NashvVegi.org in Nashville was great. Shade Tree Clinic is a volunteer run clinic in east Nashville for the uninsured and they have a community garden as well it appears.

One of the speakers at today's session was recently one of the big TED talk. Here is his talk there.

The Goon sketches...

Thought I would try some sketches of Nashville based artist Eric Powell's The Goon.

Gorillas

I've been getting into gorillas lately, I wish the Nashville Zoo had a some. Here's a quick sketch I just doodled out. Still trying to figure out hair. I'm also working on a forensic sculpt of a gorilla skull. It's a neat science kit I found at flea market, brand new, but for a 1/4 of the retail price. I'll post progress on that soon.

Starting some sketches

Hey,

Long time no see. I've stared doing some greyscale one brush sketches in Photoshop, I find it quiet fun and enjoyable. Here are a couple I've done at the coffee shop Ugly Mugs lately.

This first one was originally of the guy sitting in front of me with me trying to let on that I was trying to sketch him, then I decided to some some side and background, so it was entirely thought out, but it was my first free hand PS sketch, it was fun.

This next one is of Atomic Robo from the comic of the same name

First pic

Well, I finally got an SLR. I found a Canon EOS Rebel XTi at a pawn shop and ponied up. I've had such a grand time photo assisting lately, and felt re-inspired so, here's my first image with some photoshop tweeking, I'm just trying to figure out the camera and how everything works. Lots to learn, but I'm excited to be learning as always

Tiki art

The piece I created for the Tiki art show at Kustom Thrills Tattoo Rock-n-Rods BBQ & Tiki Art show...it's a linotype block print based on the idol from Raiders of the Lost Ark...I made it a little tikiish to fit the theme of the show.

Terrence Malick & Dinosaurs?

Yeah, that sounds pretty good to me. If you really know me, you know one of my favorite directors is Terrence Malick and that THE THIN RED LINE borders on one of my favorite films of all time. Now there's news that Malick is working on something that'll have dinosaurs in it along with Brad Pitt and Sean Penn and has WETA'a Richard Taylor as an consultant, no matter how these things add up it sounds good to me. Zelda's Ocarina on the iPhone

Smule has released an Ocarina app for the iPhone, This thing is fantastic, just downloaded it for my iPhone, now I will get the Tri-Force! More about it at TechCrunch.

The Lego Minifig Timeline

I loved Legos growing up, I'm not sure why I still don't get some new ones and build something...anyway Gizmodo has worked with Lego to painstakingly collect and catalog almost every minifig ever produced into a photographic timeline. You will be able to see the evolution of the iconic figure, from the very first sets in the 70s that you saw in our exclusive tour of the secret historic Lego vault to the latest and greatest ones in 2008.
